My platform is Ubuntu 10.04, and my python version is 2.5, all according to the requirement.

Post Situation:
What is exact path of your home folder? From the screenshot it looks like you have some non-ascii characters in it. Could it be that you have Chinese characters in your user name?
I would recommend trying the following: put database in some location that definitely have only asciii characters in it name then set PYROSETTA_DATABASE env variable so it to point to it, then try to import rosetta.
