Abinitio Video
#1

Dear All (especially rmoretti - because you seem to know everything),

I am thinking of making a video about how to use Rosetta Abinitio (a video tutorial). Would there be any breach of licence somehow, or is there anything that says I should not make an explanatory (tutorial) video and publish it on youtube? I have not yet decided which .pdb structure to use (still looking for something that shows a good funnel plot).

http://www.meilerlab.org/index.php/jobs/resources, "rosetta tutorials" tab, may already have one.  It looks like there are not videos for the more recent tutorials.

I am not aware of any reason you could not make such a video, so long as you are not showing the code itself.  You should ask the legal people; that's what they are paid for.  See the email at the bottom of this page: https://els.comotion.uw.edu/express_license_technologies/rosetta   lisence at uw dot edu.

If you're just looking for a demo structure, Ubiquitin (e.g. 1ubq.pdb) is a good choice, and Rosetta does reasonably well folding it.

Regarding legalities, you own anything you produce using Rosetta (that is, any structural outputs or analysis results). The license only resticts redistribution of Rosetta itself, not the information and results you produce using Rosetta, or your own creations which are otherwise Rosetta related.

I agree with Steven that there's not anything a priori  I can think of which would restrict you from posting instructional videos about how to use Rosetta, even ones which show example Rosetta input and Rosetta output. I also agree that if you want to confirm details about what you can and can't do under the Rosetta license, the University of Washington CoMotion people are the ones who have the official say on the matter.

P.S. If you do make a video, be sure to let us know about it -- I'd be interested to see what it looks like.

Video is up. Sorry for the quality I am swamped these days and did not have a lot of time to put it together properly.
